Not long after noon on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 there was BOOM! I looked out my front window. A car along 44th street next to Shipe Park was on fire. Someone on the corner was on a phone acknowledged they were phoning 911. I went for my camera. By the time I got back outside our trusty Fire Dept. was on the scene. These are all the pictures I took. A 2nd boom leads me to believe that it and the 1st were due to tires and were not gasoline explosions. That means the fire could have started several minutes earlier.

If I had a video camera I guess the footage would be on one of the TV stations this evening.

There appeared to be two minor injuries evidenced by the EMS sending a person to look at woman and a boy over at the corner of the basketball court where the fire could still be kept in view.

There were no creditable rumors about the cause of the fire. I heard one person tell the EMS person that the woman and boy were in the car when the fire started.
